Northside '82 begins with the help of resident Ike Release and his "Dance Equations EP". Known for his unique brand of dreamy Chicago deep house for labels such as M>O>S Recordings and Machining Dreams, the EP shows off the Chicago producer's more physical side. The title track packs percussive muscle into its shivering, hypnotic grooves, as well as an insistent vocal locking itself away in listeners' heads. The slamming drums of "Bijou" provide the frame a rambunctious riff and gasping, passionate vocals. The EP closes with "Direct Current", whose introspective tone is yanked into floor-filler territory by relentless synth lines.
